As you might already know, there is a really cool project in the works, in hArtists. If you don't know about it, you can read this and this.

So, I add this entry to talk about my own original characters.

Yulene

Yulene as a Ninja #1 Yulene as a Ninja #2
Yulene as a Red Knight

Description :
She is an energetic, young clumsy female who has special powers. She can teleport with her magic spell Shu, throw a fireball with Fudo, slightly go back in time with Return, and create illusions with Rever. She also is naive, and not very bright, as she sometimes can do everything guys ask of her.
Her dream is for Lee (another one of my characters) to become a better man so she would marry him and have kids. And to her, becoming a better man implies for Lee to fuck loads and loads of other women...

Sexual behavior : bisexuality

Things you can't do to her if you draw her in the hA World : N/A

Lee
Lee in school

Description :
He is your average male student, and is quite a loser. Guys tend to make fun of him, while girls usually stay clear off him. Still, he is quite the logical guy as his behavior is the one of a normal human being. His dream is to go in some kind of dream world with Yulene, so the two of them can finally be together without other people around. He is not very sociable and has very few friends.

Sexual behavior : heterosexuality

Things you can't do to him if you draw him in the hA World : N/A

Nori
Nori in the nude
Nori dressed as a thief

Description :
Nori is the daughter of a Queen ~ meaning that she's a Princess. Because of a struggle with another powerful nation, she had to flee from his country. Now she is fighting the dreadful Emperor Ghestler with a couple soldiers.
She hates sex and finds it disgusting - but she still unwillingly takes part in some naughty activities, sometimes. Afterwards, she would deny all involvement, though.
Other than that, she has the agility of a competent thief, but feels better when she's discussing politics with a wonderful dress on.
Her dream is to make the world a better place. Your usual goody-two-shoes, in a sense. Hey, I know it's cliched, but that's how she is !

Sexual behavior : ???

Second entry

About time I'd write another weblog entry.

I just released the second page of what is supposed to be a new comic. The main female character, Nori, goes on a trip to save her love, a beautiful woman named Maia. That's because she was nabbed by a winged monster, just as they were about to get married (if it reminds you of Phantasy Star III, it's perfectly normal :P )She's accompanied by Aron, a guy who's secretly in love with her.

These first pics happen at the very beginning of their travel. They were looking for clues on how to reach the legendary Monsters' World in a town named Ilan, when a villager told them to head into a cave south of there.

In the cave, a guy doing researches on monsters welcome them. And eventually, he presents Bluer to Nori...

I hope you'll like it !!

First entry

First of all, you should know that English isn't my natural language, so writing entries in this language can be a difficult task for me. Still, it should be readable, as long as you can bear the occasional mistakes, here and there Wink

The reason why I decided to write this, is because I'm kind of lost. If I started sketching when I was a kid, it was to tell a story. I was fond of Walt Disney comics way back when (with Donald Duck, Uncle Scroodge, ...), and I wanted to gain the ability to grab a reader's attention, as well as to give life to characters, to create a whole new world. So, I started drawing little comics involving Johnson, a middle-aged guy who hides giant bags of dollars in his house (yeah it was dollars - not francs - and that's because I fell in love with America when I was a kid ^^). Thieves would steal his stash while he was getting drunk in a café, and that would initiate Johnson's thirst for blood. Because yeah, the man would get his beloved gun, and would go after the thieves himself...

So yeah, a lame comic. But remember, I was only 7 ! LOL

It was only later, when I was 14 or 15, that I started to make another comic, titled Final Fantasy Star, in reference to two video games which really stood out to me : Final Fantasy VI (the first FF I played), and Phantasy Star III Generations of Doom. The scenario was pretty simple actually : two kids (a boy and a girl) would leave on a journey in order to stop the evil deeds of Laya, a woman who commands an army of monsters. During their travel, they would meet different people who'd join their ranks - and many events would unfold from here. The comic inheritated FFVI's mechanics (stats, spells, etc), while it inheritated Phantasy Star III's main storyline.

But I had, and still have, problems. First, I hate having to write my stories down, before making the actual comic. And that, my friends, ultimately leads to a chaotic and almost unreadable piece of trash. Because I let my imagination run wild, I change ideas of what's gonna happen during the making, I add sex scenes here and there, and I sometimes change the appearance of characters because I think a certain physical modification would make them look better. Not only that, but because my drawing skills also improve during the making, looking at the first pics again pains me (that last point is especially noticeable in Yulene's Story). But more importantly, I bring in my weird humour, which ruins the story's credibility. Still, this comic "Final Fantasy Star", while still being unfinished, managed to reach around 200 pages - and the whole file still lies in a corner of my bedroom.

I won't talk about the many comics I tried to make after that one, but you can see a few of these in my gallery (the Saura and Sari ones, for example). Those are comics I stopped pretty soon, either because the starting idea didn't appeal much to me later on, because I felt the drawings I made up to that point were crap, or because making them wasn't enough fun to me.

Now going into Yulene's Story... ...You can say that Yulene's Story was the gift I wanted to make to hArtists just after joining the site. Somehow, I thought that regularily uploading a new page on the web would keep me focused, and that it would be the perfect mean to finally accomplish what I wanted to accomplish : entertaining everyone with the characters I create, and grab a reader's attention... ...You tell me if I managed to do that.

My main goal with Yulene's Story was to make little stories, much like what you can find in mangas such as Ranma 1/2. Over the many stories, the reader(s) would grow attached to Yulene and Lee - Yulene being the crazy, funny and sometimes cruel woman, while Lee being the only sane character in a school of complete madness and randomness (where everyone gets some, except Lee :P).

After the Prologue, I decided to write down every line of dialogue in a notebook, before continuing with Day 1. For this reason, Day 1 is already finished in my mind - the only thing left to do being the actual drawings. And that, my friends, bores me. What I really loved to do in "The Iron Weapon", the comic I made just before Final Fantasy Star, was to lift all boundaries that constrained my imagination. Want a random flying saucer to appear ? I did it. Want the characters to undress a random girl walking in the streets ? I did it. I really like that, drawing random crazy stuff, and changing ideas of what's gonna happen at every time - not knowing where I'm going, and my own characters not knowing what the fuck is going on Big Grin

BUT... ...there's another part of me, the part that has his feet on the ground and his head on his shoulders, that wants to make a serious comic, which aims at a clearly defined goal. I have this idea of a romance between two girls ; another idea of reviving my FFS comic (in a decaying medieval fantastic world, you would follow the adventures of a battle-hardened fighter), and another idea of a FF comic.

This part of me tells me what I would really want to create : something I could be proud of, I could show to the family and friends. But where is the fun in that ? As soon as my script is written, the boring part of drawing the comic starts. The reason why I find it boring ? Well, it's because my imagination has to be shut down, because everything is already written. I just have to follow the storyline, and shut the fuck up - even though it's mine. And besides, a comic I could show the world would have to be devoid of naked girls and sex scenes... ...and that is also another source of boredom, drawing-wise.

Also, there is the problem of the quality of the drawings. I can't spend too much time on each one, or I'd need to quit my current job and find a way to get paid for my art (if you can call it art). I think quantity over quality, but if the graphics aren't enjoyable, then it's a waste. For this reason, I want every pic to be colored, at least, and with a good enough background picture.

Oh, I thought about dropping this long comic idea altogether, but this is really what drives me to draw. Single hentai pictures, no matter how beautiful they are, don't interest me. What I want to do is to create a story, a whole world, and all the pics I uploaded in my gallery have a story behind them. And I feel that people not knowing that story is kind of a waste...

Here, this is my current state of mind, these days. Sorry for writing so much. I really don't know what I'm going to do now. I feel that each minute I spend not drawing, is a minute of life lost by one of the worlds I wanna create...

I don't know if I made myself clear, but if you understood, can you help me ?
